Quick update

The gentleman in the room next to us just found out that his sister is dead. He was having trouble with is phone so I told my mom to see if the people he was calling had Nextel phones because apparently there is spotty service. My mom went out and he was crying and told her he just got through and his sister is dead. I am just so sad. She stayed behind - not sure why. He had to go back in his room and tell his wife. That is what I mean. I am lucky. I have forgotten just how lucky in the last day or so but it just became glaringly clear to me. My family is safe. THAT is what matters.

I'm SO glad you are OK. When I first heard, you were the first person to pop up in my miind (being that I don't know anyone in that area, but I knew you lived close to there). My heart aches for the guy in the room next to you. This is such a sad and trying time. My best to you and your family!

Wow. I just don't know what to say. I'm really glad you and you're family are all okay, and I just hope they manage to get help for the people who stayed down there.

And the looters ... well, I hope they get what's coming to them too.

I'm glad that you're okay. I just found your site and I'm so sorry that you and everyone down there is going through this. I don't believe that people (including me) not in/from that area can truly appreciate the extent of this catastrophe from the pictures, as bad as they are.

My husband is also a fireman though currently serving overseas with the National Guard. My prayers and good thoughts are with all the emergency workers down there. If my husband were home, I'm sure that he'd be on his way down.

I know it's not easy to handle a major crisis without your spouse around, but you'll find you are stronger than you think you are. And hopefully you'll be back together soon.

Take care of yourself!

Hi SPG, I learnt about you through SillyNessa's blog.

Last year, on boxing day, Indonesia was hit by the Tsunami. Though I am from Malaysia, it is very sad and emotionally difficult for many of us.

Having seen the recent news on our local TV station of what devastation Katrina had done, I can only offer you prayers.....

Take care and stay strong.

SFG,
I know things must be extremely difficult for you, your family-- actually everyone that's having to suffer through this catastrophe... please know that there are a lot of folks out there who are sending plenty of good thoughts, love and prayers to ya'll; and you're exactly right... in the end, all that matters is that you are safe and you know that your loved ones are okay.
(P.S.... I've been a self-confessed lurker in the past but had to "de-lurk" for this)
God bless and hang in there!

SFG: You and your hubs are in my thoughts and prayers. I am so, so sorry that you are going through this shit and that your community has been hit so hard. I join the other bloggers when I offer my heartfelt support, my home and my money to you if you need it. You know how to find me; I'm easier to reach by blog or e-mail than by phone anyway!

SFG, that post made me get tears in my eyes. That poor guy. And there are so many other people that have to go through that too.

I am just glad you and your family are safe. I know I don't know you personally, but I have gotten to know you very well from your blog (I scored 100% :) on the quiz you posted about you). I just want you to know that I think about you EVERY day. Every time I see the news or a story about what is going on down there, I think of you. You and your husband and your family will be in my prayers.

Oh my God, this is terrible. I am so sorry for this man's sister. It is such an awful situation. You are right, all that matters is your health, and you are alive. I hope the best for you and the city of New Orleans.

SFG, my heart goes out to you and all of the people suffering right now. Last night I actually felt guilty as I sat in my air conditioned home drinking water. I cry every morning after I watch the news. It's awful. You are in my prayers. ((hugs))

I'm sorry for your "neighbor." And thankful that you have family to be with. I hope you and your husband can be together soon. We finally heard from our missing friends who confirmed what the grapevine had said, they are in Little Rock, safe and together. I read through your rant on the gangsters. I couldn't agree more. I am absolutely anti-death penalty. And I find myself watching the news and saying, "they need to be shot." I'm not sure that I don't mean it. I am so glad you're with kind people. My friends say everyone in Little Rock is treating them wonderfully, too. Thank God for good people.
